Anyone who is entertained by political confrontation desperately needs to get a life.

The teacher who was sacked supposedly (if you believe GB News/Telegraph) for saying the Lucy Connolly case was one of 'two-tier justice'.....

No, it was much much more than that.

OK I don't get that, and so will probably continue to use the term.

They are advocates as well.

This is getting silly. There is nothing repugnant about lobbying or being 'a lobby'. It is a perfectly legitimate activity in a democracy.

What would you call a group of campaigners who lobby on behalf of trans people?

Your 'might' is doing a lot of work there.

I think it's a brave person who lightly dismisses a unanimous decision by five Supreme Court judges. But yes, we will see in due course how this plays out.

"In law gender and sex are often interchangeable".

I don't believe that is the case. A whole load of people want it to be the case but that doesn't make it so.

Happy to be corrected though (with evidence).

More than fifty private schools shut since Labour put VAT on fees Department for Education defends ending tax breaks for independent institutions, after parents lost a legal battle at the High Court this year β€” view map

The headline here should say:

"Number of private schools increases by 35 - showing fears of an exodus to be unfounded".

(The increase is mentioned way down the article.)

This is worth reading. It could be 'make your mind up time' for the Swiss.

I’ll believe it’s immigration policy they’re protesting about when they picket institutions responsible for making immigration policy

If they were, Isabel wouldn't be allowed on them, what with being a second class (female) citizen in that country.

It's very simple: You can protest all you like about this and wider immigration issues, as is your right, but you can't just turn up with a mob outside actual hotels housing a small number of migrants... especially given such mobs tried to burn down hotels last year.

Plus, you live 5000 miles away.

The central point here is that the trans lobby is losing in the courts. Until they truly reflect on why that's happening (and it isn't just a media thing, although I totally see why one would think that), they are going nowhere.

03.08.2025 18:24 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 5    πŸ“Œ 0

On this one, they're not doing it to buy back Reform voters. They're doing it because they are increasingly persuaded of the GC case (shorn of the populist crap). And because the British trans lobby has badly overreached.

The German model is an ideal, but getting there is now almost impossible.

Yes I agree with all that. But the law is evidently on the gender critical side, as has already been amply demonstrated.
