What we call a crime and how the media reports it effects our attitude towards the crime itself, the victims of it and even those charged with investigating it.
Our latest episode looks at it through the lense of financial crime.
"Scam" or "Fraud"?

Offshore Jim is a disgrace to the club I love.
Manchester United - the clue is in the name - is a truly international institution, built on immigration.
To fellow Reds impacted by his bile, you are not alone.
He might own a part of the club but we - together - are the club.
I tried to take a photo of a grasshopper on my windshield, but now it looks like a gigantic bug destroying the town.

In this weekβs episode of the podcast we ask: when faced with a potentially dangerous situation, at what point do the public think itβs right to call the police?
Do different demographics assess risk differently, and what are the triggers that motivate dialling 999?

Instead of clapping - which to be honest I felt a bit of an idiot doing - I got a clicker used for dog training.

The new episode of A Perspective on Crime has been published.
In it I explore #research which questions whether the global #policing of #money-laundering is nothing more than a monitoring exercise and whether #criminology is addressing this issue with the urgency it deserves?

Donald Trump's fortune before entering office was built on licensing his name.
That's what he is doing suing the BBC.
He's licensing his name to Reform to put Farage in Downing Street & instead of taking a fee upfront, he's taking an equity stake in the country.
I bow to nobody in my love for the BBC.
They are however an institution which has repeatedly turned a blind-eye to inappropriate behaviour and at the same time acted as a status-incubator for some of the most corrupting influences in public life.
Robbie Gibb will be thrilled.
A new episode of the podcasts has just dropped.
I look at a paper called "Investigation of human DNA transfer during mock dog- napping" authored by Heidi Monkman and colleagues at Flinders University.
