Wonderful blackthorn today and so many butterflies - small tortoiseshells, peacocks and my first speckled wood of the year.

Interesting - they did look rather as though they had been bleached.

Some white celandines among the prolific yellow in Gloucestershire at the moment. I know there are white cultivars, but given where these were, I think they might be natural variants. Please could I could ask #wildflowerID if that is likely? #wildflowerhour

A sudden profusion of dog violets in these Gloucestershire woods - near where several big beech trees were slain by fierce winter storms - perhaps a response to more light reaching the woodland floor?
