Trying something different. I wanted to have something other than white walls and hanging a tapestry was easier and cheaper than wallpaper! I’m happy with it! I work from home so my spare room is my office on one side and my craft working space on the other side. So I have something nice to see!

Pantry is officially stocked up on medicinal herbs that should last for quite a while! Just finished canning and labeling everything. This is the kinda thing that excites me. Now I’m just gonna stare at it for a minute to appreciate it. ☺️

Gonna kick off the season with making some elderberry syrup and starting a few tinctures.

Through the act of setting it to fire, you are releasing that plant matters spirit from the physical to the ethereal. You are allowing that plant to carry your intention and at the same time elevating the plant spirit itself. Or at least that’s my perspective on it.

When you burn the plant matter as an incense not only are you working with that plant spirit to aid in your spell, and not only are you using that plant material as an offering to another spirit. But the act of burning the plant material can be seen as an offering to the plant spirit itself.

Not only are you taking in the plants benefits, but your body is transforming that plants energy as you metabolize it. It becomes symbiotic.

Work it through your fingers as you ask what you would like it to help you with.
If it’s a plant that is safe to ingest, perhaps brewed as a tea, this is a great way to cultivate a relationship.

Aside from caring for a live plant and studying their traditional mundane and magical uses, I would also say the best way is to just begin working with it. Don’t just treat it as an “ingredient” to add to a spell bottle. Get your hands dirty.

I saw a question posed recently but didn’t get a chance to respond and I keep thinking about. Someone who was new to the idea of animism was asking something to the effect of how to build a relationship with plants before working with them.

I have recently learned of the lovely Butterfly Pea Flower. It has numerous health benefits as well as uses for magic. When brewed into a tea it creates a nice indigo color which is magical in itself. Add a splash of half n half and some sweetener and you have yourself a nice little refreshing brew!

Right! I love browsing stuff there, or at thrift stores, and thinking about how I could use them!
