40% of those who identify as US evangelicals don’t even go to church, and nearly half of all those who call themselves Christians in the US don’t go either. So how are people being catechized? Most likely, by their favorite news sources.

For many in the US today, their beliefs are written first by their politics and only a distance second by their faith; and if the two conflict, they’ll go with ideology over theology any day.
