I think at the level where people actively swapped factions as a guild/team to get access to better racials overlaps with the types of players that have little attachment to what race their character is to begin with as long as the performance benefits are there.

but no, its not worth it.

definitely helped that, not just, but especially in M+ a lot of alliance racial abilities are really good, like Dwarf or Nightelf.

But yeah, cross faction has been an absolute blessing, now i can't wait for cross region.
