Starting this week by #NowPlaying Affinity’s eponymous album from 1970. Produced by John Anthony, engineered by Robin Cable - familiar names for VDGG recordings. Mo Foster on bass and Linda Hoyle on vocals. Great stuff. Reissue with extras.

Beautiful girl/lady/woman. Magnificent voice. No wonder she’s sought after for harmony or background vocals. Her solo output is top notch.

Am I the only one to notice a decline in the world of book publishing? Frequent typos, editing errors (halfway changed ways of phrasing, leaving a mix of both), American spelling in British editions, etc. Not the end of the world, but goodbye to thoroughness and quality.

A bit heavy for morning music when you’re not feeling well, but it raises the spirit.

“Between Nothingness and Eternity” is being played regularly here. Does this qualify as jazz?

#Jazz I am cautiously tipping my toe in jazz music, and seriously afraid of disappearing into a rabbit hole. I know some Miles Davis (Blue & Bitches), Coltrane (Love Supreme), Charlie Parker, but that’s about it. What are must have records? FYI: I love VDGG, Soft Machine, KC, Zappa, Joni Mitchell.

#NowPlaying Epidaurus - Earthly Paradise (1977). A little forgotten gem of keyboard driven symphonic prog from Germany.

Now that’s a great live recording if ever there was one.

Worth the effort.

A “great last albums” thon could be nice. Although, sadly, that would also mean these artists are no longer with us or the bands no longer exist.

A clear case of generation gap.

Looks like we’re in for a Peter Hammill avalanche later this year. Your bio, the boxset, concerts (at least in the UK). And if I’m not mistaken, mister Hammill hinted at a new album in the making.

#NowPlaying Big Big Train - The Second Brightest Star (2017). A bit neglected and underrated album after the quartet of English Electric 1 & 2, Folklore, and Grimspound. The new tracks are very relaxed and pastoral, while the extended “full” versions of London Plane and Brooklands do them justice.

A sleeve to become iconic.
Or is it the reproduction of a concert billboard?
