Theresa May, more left-wing than Labour on many things, never mind the Tories, especially trans people.

London Overground under the underground

Under Over Over - West Hampstead

So it's taken a while, but I've finally found a location where you can clearly see London Underground trains traveling over London Overground trains.

The vantage point is at West Hampstead Overground station at the end of the platform.

Renewables overtake coal as world's biggest source of electricity Developing countries lead the historic clean energy charge but the US and EU rely more on fossil fuels than before, a think tank study shows.

A crucial turning point.

From Christian Concern and Sex Matters to the LGB Alliance, UK anti-Trans+ groups share ideological and strategic links with US organisations like ADF and the Heritage Foundation

What’s unfolding is a coordinated global effort to erode individual freedom, crush liberation, and control our bodies

I say this with the bluntness it requires: they will get people murdered if this continues. This is not just populism anymore either: it’s completely unhinged and a deliberate choice that does endanger lives. I am not saying this lightly at all.

Well that's the trouble. We did. We voted out the Tories, only to get a government that now does the same or worse. It's not hard to see why people feel like giving up on politics.

Rachel Reeves to lift two-child benefit cap in November’s budget Exclusive: Officials exploring options to change rule that affected 1.7 million children in Great Britain last year UK politics live – latest updates

Labour dragged into a humane policy for families at last. Over a million children should not have suffered for an extra year, but it shows opposition pressure and public campaigning can work. We must use our votes and voices to win for Disabled people now! www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Awful news about the death of the great Conor Gearty.

Perhaps the kindest and most encouraging law professor imaginable.

A dreadful loss to the study of civil liberties and constitutional law.

Paid a visit to the London arms fair today...

Found a component for cluster munitions, banned under international law, on full display.

Confirmed by staff, and removed swiftly by event organisers. But what else remains?

These vile weapons should never be peddled in the UK.

Not a high paid political consultant or anything, but it seems to me that the argument for opposition is "this is corrupt, illegal, immoral, and un-American, and we won't help it in any way," rather than needing a specific legislative ask Republicans might theoretically pass that Trump will ignore.

The lack of mainstream coverage of regular huge protests reminds me of a talk from a Twitter employees who explained that they had to drop BLM off the Trending Tags section because otherwise it would have been there permanently. The modern media environment has no appetite for sustained movements.

This is actually why it does matter that the government is trying to make it easier to build massive estates of houses with no public transport links and no local amenities: not just because it’s terrible planning and bad for the environment but because it’s awful public health policy!

Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change. Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.

β€œOver the past 20 years, Paris has undergone a major physical transformation, trading automotive arteries for bike lanes, adding green spaces and eliminating 50,000 parking spaces.

Part of the payoff has been invisible β€” in the air itself.”

The Quakers are doing exactly what all public services are legally allowed to do even if the EHRC wants to pretend they're not: say gender-based toilets are inclusive and for anyone bothered by that as a matter of belief, there are stand-alone cubicles that they are very free to use. 1/
