There's so much technical, legal, and political BS that goes into hosting content on the internet. I don't touch it unless I absolutely have to.

Yeah it depends on how much work you are willing to put in to maintain it. Like what if you're running a booru and then a critical XSS venerability comes out? How quickly can you upgrade? What if the upgrade needs more disk space then you have avail? Blah blah blah...

Then find a techie friend who can recommend some things.

Personally I would just dump my stuff onto an existing public booru and then host a free static web page on cloudflare with links to all my posts. Dumb, simple, and outsources all the intricacies of maintain a highly-available service.

The best advice I can give is not to get caught up in the weeds of "which tool" and instead focus on your intentions. Instead of saying "I want a booru", say "I want a way to share and search for my artwork using a web browser".

VPS or "virtual private server" is basically paying someone to run an always-on computer for you. I do not recommend this route unless you are actively interested in learning about tech. If you are interested that's great and the world needs more people like that.

What you are doing is so cool and I hope you know that.

I am beginning to understand why most artists usually only draw from thigh/knee up.

A lot of experienced artists post timelapses or process exhibitions and I'm amazed at how their stuff "locks in" early.

It takes many tries for me figure out why my initial sketch isn't working. I think the difference here is the ability identify landmarks, which is really about well... experience.

I am suddenly hit with BIG IMPATIENCE. Actually it's more like smol impatience. Maybe just frustrated I had shit to do today and didn't get much drawing time.

One of the blessings of playing instruments and being a coder before I started learning to draw is that I am pretty good at being able to tell the difference between "work through it" forearm pain and "that's enough for today" forearm pain.
