One of our locals here in rural Suffolk is a 101yo former rear gunner in a Lancaster bomber. Lost half his ear but surpassed the 2 week life expectancy he'd been forecast. And he's the loveliest man too.

A friend was doing the PR for Holsten and hosted a group of their German execs at the game. They were amazed at the atmosphere and asked 'is it always like this?' If only.

Took friends to two of the @rspbminsmere.bsky.social hides yesterday. Told them chances of seeing Bitterns wasn't guaranteed. Saw three, in the open and within seconds of arriving. One bloke had been there three hours waiting to see one and we turn up and hey presto. Felt guilty* (*not too guilty.)

It's not just the wildlife that makes @rspbminsmere.bsky.social so special. It just looks wonderful.

That 4-1 win at Wembley, not just the result but the way we scored those goals though it's bitter sweet because after that game Klopp went and bought the players to win the league and UCL we didn't. Also, Barcelona away. Awful facilities for away fans, great atmosphere when we knew we were through.

It's quite obvious the princes were PR advised to like football (they're more naturally drawn to polo, rugby, killing animals etc) so they sat them down and told them to pick a Premier team. Being lazy, they simply picked the top two in alphabetical order. Harry = Arsenal, William = Villa.

I've got that record, had it for at least 40 years yet the strange thing is I don't remember buying it, borrowing it, stealing it or acquiring it in any other way. Very odd. Love it, of course.

It's not the coolest, I know but David Essex lived behind a mate's house and, aged 9 or 10, we used to kick the ball over the fence into his garden in the hope of seeing him. And when this came out a couple of years later I was still too young to see the film but had enough pocket money for the LP.

The conservation volunteers Luke and I are associated with once found a big patch of cannabis plants hidden in the forest (but obviously not hidden well enough). I played 5-a-side with a lad who found a dead body and badger watchers once saw two men carrying a bodybag through the woods.

What a refreshingly erudite and charming man that Plymouth manager is. He'll go for.

80 years ago. The man on the left is my uncle Sammy Treforest, pictured at Sam's Canteen, Belsen, set up to help feed survivors, one of whom was Edda, a Polish woman who had survived both Auschwitz and Belsen. Sammy and Edda married. Google them for videos of them telling their stories.

We'll be ok. Maybe we'll win a trophy. I don't see why not when the later rounds should coincide with getting our best players back.
