As a complete layperson of course there’s very little I can contribute to solutions! Housing policy is for govt/local govt + they have reneged on responsibilities; that seems the main issue. Until this changes we’re all pissing in the wind.

Yep; it’s not up to posters on BSky to solve this but the govt. They’ve known what to do (Finland etc) but have wilfully chosen to ignore it + leave housing to the “market”, allowing massive vulture funds to buy up most available stock, rewarding landlords + not ramping up apprenticeshipsetc.

Again, this requires a serious action plan that the govt has not given enough resources or organisation to, for decades. As the saying goes; the best time to plant a tree (or, in this case, support and implement a meaningful housing strategy!) was 30 years ago. The 2nd best time is now”…

The problem is not the courts.
The problem is that the Irish government parties are ideologically incapable of taking the actions necessary to solve the housing crisis. They know how to fix it, but they won't, waiting instead for the "market" to do it for them, which it never, ever will.

If Nikita Hand had got proper justice her rapist would be in prison but at least now he’s been told to fuck of by the Supreme Court. Hopefully she can get on with her life and that she can heal after the constant ordeals she’s been subjected to, the past 7 years.
