Finding the Fun in House Mouse Is Fun Enough? When Talon Durrant, the creator of House Mouse reached out to me to cover his debut game, I’ll admit that I was skeptical. The game pitches itself as family-oriented and looks …

One more #sponsored post from me this week. I've been pretty busy lately. Hopefully, I can share some of what I've been working on soon. In the mean time, here's a look at a debut game from Talon Durrant, House Mouse:

It really seems like this: www.crunchyroll.com/series/GVDHX...

But it's a 2019 show... I have no idea why it would look like that for you.

There are a lot of other great entries, so I suggest taking a look at the jam page as well. You could play this game for years with just the content from this jam and have an excellent time.

Another Party at the End of the World, and This Time, They Brought Gifts! Doomlings is Back with Legends of Enderas Not too long ago I was contacted about giving Doomlings a try and absolutely loved it! The card game for 2-6 players looked cute but unassuming at first, b…

The Doomlings folks asked me to do another #sponsored look at their latest expansion: Legends of Enderas. Lots of new cards and a whole new treasure mechanic. If you haven't given Doomlings a try, I highly recommend it.

Ah, that's a bummer, but totally fair. Have you seen White Collar? That show slaps and is on Netflix or Hulu I believe. The cast takes a few episodes to heat up (the first couple episodes are so-so, but it goes places).

Have you watched The Rehearsal on HBO? S2 is airing now so by time you caught up you'd have both and S2 is incredible.

Sure thing :)

For short stories, you'll usually see them at 2-2.5k, so that's likely why you thought this. This is mostly because publications won't accept longer works so a lot of writers get used to that length, but it's a good practice as concise and precise writing tends to be better.

General advice for chapters regardless of fan fic or otherwise, you want to be about 2-3k words normally. ~4k is the limit for most readers, but it depends on the content and writing style.

Made some character concepts this week. Not 100% I'll realize this idea in my head, but it was fun to mess around with a different style.

The big megathread of stuff I engaged with this year has become a nightmare to manage on this platform. Officially killing that project. Learned some limitations with Bluesky as a platform, however, so that was a win. I'll just post stuff as I feel like it now.

First seasonal to finish is Zenshu. I was expecting more after hearing all the ending hype, and I can appreciate this for what it is, but it was just OK for me.

This won best picture... I'm not going to even rate it (did enjoy, though, super funny).

I'm afraid to say I'm not a Lynch fan. I liked /some/ of Twin Peaks and not much else from him. So, to no surprise, I did not enjoy Mulholland Dr. very much. It's not a bad movie, but it's also not for me. Feels like 2/3 of one movie and a 1/3 of another. I get it, but...

Really enjoyed this movie with K until the ending. It's not a bad movie by any stretch, in fact it's quite fun and pretty funny for a horror movie. With that in mind, I'll give this a 6/10 because the ending really wasn't for me, but the rest is it.

Finally, we have T.P Bon. This is a perfect example of understanding a show is good (much like Flying Witch) but not being the target audience for it. If you have older elementary or middle school kids, this one would be a real winner.

First half easily better than the second. Soft 7/10.

Next on #JonsJourney is a suggestion from @derekl1963.bsky.social. There's nothing wrong with Flying Witch, but I just couldn't get into it as much as I wanted to. A few cute episodes, and I like Chinatsu (no surprise), but that's about it for me.

Sorry to report a 6/10 for this one.

I'm excited to write about this one. Sakurada Reset is one of those shows where all the characters have PHDs in philosophy and talk a bunch. My favorite part was where a real Kit-Kat prevents a character from ending their life lol.

Easy 9/10

Some weekend watches. First up we have Bullet Train, a fun film with a tight script. Not my usual kind of thing, but as you can probably tell, I'd recommend it if you like cheesy soap opera drama and Yakuza/Mafi movies or action spectacle flicks.

We did it, we watched the third one and I gotta say that Sonic 3 is pretty great. Now, I know it's not the most incredible thing and I'm not giving it that coveted 10/10, but I was hype. Had a good time. They teased a 4th and I feel it can only get /better/, so I say LET'S GO!

Watched The Window with K tonight for #JonsJourney and it was... fine. This is a retelling of The Boy Who Cried Wolf but as a thriller of sorts. The boy sees a murder but nobody believes him and things happen lol. One /really/ cool part and pretty alright the rest.

This Nicholas Cage had a lot of hype and now that I've finally seen it, I gotta say it really lived up to the hype. It's not scary, but it's got the right vibe. Might be one of Cage's best performances and I'm not even joking. Would recommend.

Been a minute, but this time I'm telling about S2 of Blue Lock. Despite the decrease in quality for all but the final episode (where everything went, as it should have given the nightmare of this production), I still quite enjoyed it.

The no-friendship but still typical sports formula takes an 8/10
