Being a maker means working a season or two ahead. I’m cutting these pocket puzzles in between orders. Decided to cut the bottom as a series of earlets that I then separated. The rest of the puzzle is earlets and color line cutting.

So many tiny pieces!

Van Gogh’s Crows over a Wheatfield was the first puzzle I gave up on. Impressionist paintings typically don’t make great puzzles, IMHO.

I make hand cut wooden puzzles. I am certain there aren’t any African-American wooden puzzle makers. There are a few laser companies founded by people of Asian heritage (Mosaic and Artifact). Almost all hand cutters will cut custom puzzles, and some laser companies will.

Do you know about Puzzles of Color, Dope, Unified Pieces, Apostrophe Puzzles and Piece, Love Soul? They’re all black owned puzzle companies. I was able to meet several of the owners at Puzzle Jam South- they’re fabulous and kind people.
