All this talk of expelling immigrants is simply not economically viable. With serious labour shortages what happens to the hospitality sector, the construction industry, or agriculture, etc. ? More likely, the new administration in US will deport a few, make noise, and legalise the rest.

2024 was the year of elections in several countries. One common element- strong wave of anti-incumbency in most democracies, possibly due to higher than normal inflation. Far right parties mostly gained ( though in UK the leftist Labour won). Does this mean fascism is on the rise ? Not really.

Nuanced conversations mean understanding the reality in terms of different shades of grey. But people only seem to see everything in terms of black and white. This was not the case a decade or so ago. And this phenomenon seems to be taking place in more and more countries in the world. Worrying.

¿ Porque es tan difícil en el mundo de hoy debatir y discutir con gente que tienen opiniones diferentes que la nuestra ?

Why has it become so difficult in recent times for people with different opinions to discuss and debate with each other in a rational manner ? This was not always so. Moreover this phenomenon is growing everywhere.
