im tired of living through turbulent "history defining" moments but my god, this has to be what the lion rock spirit is about to me
i bitch a lot abt HK ppl but i really do love this city 🥲🫰

but in the aftermath of this horrific fire, seeing ppl set aside their differences no matter what they are to come together and do good and help one another out in times of need has been so touching...

i grew up privileged with relatively well off parents and ngl i never particularly felt this lion rock spirit....
as the city developed more, the ppl seemed to lose more of this spirit, and we became more divided as a community, especially with what happened in 2019

it was mostly a thing back in a time when neighbours depended on each other and public housing estate residents formed tightly knit communities

so there's this thing we call "lion rock spirit" (獅子山精神) which came from an old tv show abt the working class overcoming the challenges of sociopolitical issues
it largely refers to HK ppl's resilience and fortitude in the face of adversity

this morning when i woke up and just went about my business as per usual it just didn't feel right... i feel better now knowing i've contributed in some way to efforts

i didn't live near the site, but i did grow up in that district and live there for 10+ years
i moved out to another district a long time ago but it felt important to me to help in some kind of way...

to my understanding they have an overwhelming amount of physical supplies atm and the community has really stepped up in helping where possible with tons of volunteers coming in from all over the city

just donated to a bunch of charities + spca for their ongoing work with the fires...
i rarely spend money, but money is just paper if i don't spend it, and if i spend it i'd much rather it be money well spent for a good cause

if anything happened to the express, to dh, and he hadn't made his utmost effort to help them himself and oversee those efforts, would he have been able to live with that?

but bc its the express, and bc dh is on the express, my delulu brain says that dictates why jy personally volunteered for the job
not bc he thinks the other generals wouldn't be up to the task

operation irontomb is a a reshuffling of power in the cosmos, the generals acknowledged this too
xianzhou alliance would have been part of it regardless

do i think, when he's expressing worry for the express, he's worried for the crew but he's also in particular worried for dh? ....again, in my delulu brain, yes 😋

tl;dr do i think jy doesn't care about the express in general (aside from dh)? ofc not, they're all good ppl!
but do i think he pays extra effort and care towards the express bc dh is there? ...in my delulu brain, yes 😋

considering it was a volunteered task, jy DID indeed stick his neck out
i think most ppl would have considered a task more suited to the yaoqing
fei xiao herself pointed out that it was unwise to deploy luofu
but jy seemed insistent that it be the luofu

ofc fx denies this, but i do wonder, consider that she's here to "relay messages" on behalf of the generals (and jy, im sure), if its possible that she was under strict request to keep things "impersonal" and "professional" 😂

himeko herself knows that it must have been jy who stuck his head out for them in order to secure the alliance's agreement to deployment
