Reeducated: A New Yorker Documentary in Virtual Reality
A new film takes viewers inside Xinjiang’s secret detention camps for Uighurs and other predominantly Muslim minorities.
REEDUCATED was conceived as a 360-degree V.R. documentary that brought viewers into a Chinese reeducation camp. This new theatrical version, supported by USHMM, can be seen in theaters, allowing us to bring the film to a wider audience for the first time.

This year marks the 6th #Eid I’ve spent without my sister. 6 long yrs of not knowing if she’s safe, fed, or healthy. It’s another year where the CCP’s genocide continue to evolve, erasing our culture & suffocating our faith. The Uyghurs deserve to celebrate Eid with their families

—love for my people, justice, and freedom drives me. This fight is bigger than my family or homeland—it’s a battle for human dignity against a regime silencing all who stand for democracy. On Women’s Day, I honor the unbreakable spirit of women who fight, sacrifice, and stand for justice. (2/2)

I’m an Uyghur woman, a daughter of resilience, a sister to a brilliant healer unjustly imprisoned by China, & a mother blessed with 5 incredible children. I’ve seen Uyghur women’s bodies turned into battlegrounds in a genocide meant to erase us. My advocacy is born from pain but fueled by love—(1/2)

Forty innocent Uyghurs were forcibly sent back to China last night — delivered into the hands of their oppressors. This grave betrayal will stain the conscience of the world forever. Shame on the Thai government!

Today marks #UyghurGenocide Recognition Day & the 76th ann. of the #GenocideConvention. 3 yrs ago, the Uyghur Tribunal confirmed the #CCP's genocide against Uyghurs—a hard-won recognition. Yet, Uyghurs, like my sister #GulshanAbbas, still suffer. Failing to act undermines our pledge to "Never Again

Transgender woman wins record payout in China after electroshock treatment

Good to see this important win. But worrying: “A study published in 2019, based on a survey of 385 people, found that nearly one in five transgender youths in #China reported being forced into conversion practices by their parents.” www.theguardian.com/world/2024/n...

Exclusive | U.S. Adds Nearly 30 Chinese Companies to Forced-Labor Blacklist
The raft of additions is the single-largest expansion of a list created to combat alleged human rights abuses in Xinjiang.
On Friday, the administration added 29 companies to what is known as the Entity List, bringing the total to more than 100. Goods from those companies are presumptively blocked from entry to the U.S. under the #Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act.

Dominance of clean energy technology has allowed China to cement its influence with developing nations, overwhelming more meager efforts by the U.S. and Europe.

Benny Tai and Joshua Wong were among dozens sentenced in a controversial national security trial.
It’s outrageous that 45 #HongKong opposition figures—politicians, academics, union leaders, and activists—were sentenced to a total of 245 years and 6 months in prison simply for attempting to run and win in an election!
