Yep, playing since 1.0, this is several lotteries in a row I haven’t been selected. I’m glad they *finally* had an active-sub-only presale but I wish they had consideration for length of time played. How many $1000s in sub fees and I can’t get one ticket…

I’m not going to crash out over it, it’s a *lot* of money just to even attend let alone travel, but it is sort of brutal that Square-Enix can’t implement some sort of pity system for people who’ve played since 1.0 :/

when I used to be more involved in DSA stuff (so, pre-covid) that was always my major complaint. no opportunity for coalition-building/networking or even just socializing, it’s either larping as party bureaucrat project managers or volunteer labor of dubious effectiveness

Oh damn I (briefly) used to do IT for a web gambling company that used exclusively Hikvision cameras. I'm assuming they're fielding a brutal capex bill to change them all out before the gaming commission finds out they're doing an FCC violation.

The worst part is a lot of the anti-AI catchphrases aren’t just alluding to prejudice, it is outright. “Man and machine were not meant to mix” is one I’ve seen that‘s not just disabled people catching strays, I’d argue that’s a direct hit on disabled people reliant on technology.

There was a concerted effort to get people to stop saying “make xyz great again” because saying it *at all* was giving daylight to MAGA. But on here you can say “screws will not replace us” and it’s somehow not just fine but righteous. Make it make sense.

At this point I feel like an unplanned 24-hour outage would be the best thing for this site’s survival. Give people time to think about literally anything else for a while
