I encountered nocebo-effects when a patient was inpatient for gradually lorazepam withdrawal. They informed her to lower the dosage from time to time but give her a placebo continuously, so she was not able to say when exactly the dosage was decreased. She desperately reported to experience

strong withdrawal symptoms the next day and asked them to take smaller steps
- they did not even start to reduce the dosage.

I experience placebo effects taking vitamins in the winter months, trying not to get sick! 😷

I experience placebo effects every time I drink kombucha!

If that counts as nocebo, I got bad paradoxical effects from benzodiazepines the one time I took one - anxiety, restlessness, and more that I don't want to describe. But I never trusted benzos in the first place and thought it'd make me feel bad. 🫠

Nocebo effect: You're eating something and you think it's delicious, but then someone says somethin like, "Yuck, that doesn't look tasty." And suddenly you're not hungry at all. 🤢

It's best not to comment negatively on other people's food.
