Sometimes I get lost on the road of life

09.12.2025 04:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0online friendship is crazy. like yeah we go way back. we talk about weird shit exclusively and we've seen each other in person between zero and four times
05.12.2025 13:38 β π 2642 π 1523 π¬ 11 π 51there's a certain personality that's very debilitating in modern life. 100 years ago, if you wanted to buy something, you'd go to five local shops and decide. now with the internet, you need to spend 1,000 hours so you can own the best version in the world like you're some venetian patrician
05.12.2025 02:12 β π 5328 π 347 π¬ 141 π 52Also these. The second one is absolutely the doll that stars in a movie about an evil cursed doll
05.12.2025 01:54 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My mom owns a lot of things that I would call "clown-adjacent" and she is currently trying to get me to take this kind of gaudy statue, I have challenged her with telling me a place that I would put it
05.12.2025 01:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Since I made this post there have been two more "you can have ____ right?" and the answer was no but I was only asked after the question didn't matter anymore
04.12.2025 23:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's amazing how much my mom refuses to acknowledge dietary restrictions no matter how many times I tell her, every time she tries to justify not remembering or negotiate why it's not a big deal, after it's already been done.
"It's not that much", "Can't you just take something for it", she says
Wow stabbed right in the heart with the sharpest truth dagger lol
04.12.2025 19:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There's probably 57 year old people who like castlevania music, but you know what I mean
04.12.2025 04:41 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Spotify called me old, gave me a listening age of 57, but what 57 year old is out there with castlevania OSTs in their top albums. I'm being unfairly judged for liking 80s music lol

If it's any consolation, social media has been designed to cultivate those feels of wanting to be seen/feeling left out, to a harmful degree. It's how they keep everyone clicking.
An overly effusive companion that often leads people into making bad decisions after making them psychologically dependent on it
While also racking up huge debts and causing quantifiable environmental/social impact
Is not great
When it's functioning as "the public face of AI"
But for the most part it seems like the industry as it stands now is balanced like a Jenga tower, with bricks continuously being pulled out from the bottom and put back on top as "growth"
The fact that chatgpt's main public recognition right now is for replicating intellectual property and as-
and so many of the promises hinge on it being so, rather than a facsimile of it.
There are many massive latent costs like the environmental, power infrastructure, and real estate impacts, that are required by the industry operating, and that part is largely being shunted off as a future concern
-
That being said there are many cases where AI has potential use, but those are places that should have been focused on specifically, rather than casting the net wide with "AI" as a solution to every possible need.
Creating consistently valid, trustworthy data via generative AI is not a thing yet
-
It's essentially been an extremely sophisticated tech demo to wow people, that costs billions of dollars and will continue to cost more and more. The more they extend the runway with investors, the more catastrophic the crash is going to be if/when it runs out without taking flight.
-
Right now most of the central promises of "AI" as a tech boom, bank on money that has yet to come and future developments that have yet to be. The various things that exist now are mainly just there to try and get buy in on a vision, with something better to come if you just wait a little longer.
-
That is a difficult question, because we are pretty deep into unsustainable growth at this point, at least wrt openai.
Everyone has put their eggs in the basket hoping the hype machine pays off, and if you don't heap praise on every potential application of AI then you "don't get it"
-
It's similar in some ways to the whole subprime mortgage thing, in that so many companies outside of the niche it is in now have their (financial) hands in the cookie jar, but it's also so much worse because of all of the lasting impact it will have no matter what happens
30.11.2025 19:49 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0LRP: the whole startup mentality of "keep pouring money into it, lose money until it succeeds, then if it doesn't it implodes, oh well" is rampant everywhere in tech but I think AI is is a great example where everyone lost their goddamn minds and are too far in now to pull back-
30.11.2025 19:49 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0And this is why we fight. This shit won't last long at this rate. If they keep racking up half-TRILLION dollar loss projections, even the most bullish, fascist-ass weirdo billionaire is going to have to stop to keep from losing his shirt.

I should rewatch it for old times sake it's been a while. So cheesy but so 90s in such a specific way
Maybe even XxZ3r0C001xX

29.11.2025 17:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0very random song that I haven't thought about in a very long time.
apparently the label their album was released on went defunct in like 1999 so the band had to rerecord the song in order to release it online for streaming
Guess enough other people also had it pop into their head to want it, lol
For no explainable reason the song New Age Girl from the 90s popped into my head randomly. I'm pretty sure there was some subconscious trigger involved in looking up novelty coffee mugs on Etsy that could be hazbin hotel coded with ginny but like...I can't explain what that background process was-
29.11.2025 03:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It really is. when you do the math it's honestly not a bad price for 46 albums, but I absolutely don't have $550 laying around to spend on it. I suspect many people will not, in this economy π
