I'm also waiting to see what to do next. Stoat seemed good and we got over the A-I thing. Then, turns out they're based in the UK and- (β―Β°β‘Β°)β―οΈ΅ β»ββ»

Looks like a desperate and misinformed attempt at getting people back to paying for Nitro. I think it's a sign we need to squeeze the piggy (wumpus) some more!

It should make people think, I agree. Indies tend to stay indie for a reason.
Long before the industry got this bad, I needed a side job. Even if a game sells well, the income goes farther for future games. I don't want to be at the mercy of a fickle market, or lose my mind working solely from home
This one is tricky, because they have an in-person studio in a city with a high cost-of-living; that was never going to be sustainable. I would adore having a studio of friends too, but it has a price.
The development of Mina is only reinforcing it. They needed it to be a revenue stream years ago.
I see what you're saying. Silksong had a live orchestra, etc; things indies in their garage don't have access to. But I prefer a separation by scope of business.
WayForward is not indie, while GalaxyTrail is. They both make polished games and contract professionals, but don't do business the same.
I still trust the PokeWalker's step counter more than a Smart Watch
15.02.2026 22:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is a 7-port USB 3.0 hub with a power adapter. (Next to an external HDD) I no longer have to choose what to plug in with a 4-port hub, this lets me have everything plugged in. All neat and tidily behind my laptop, no more tangly spider nest from the old hub And don't mind the Samus hanging from my lamp shade, lol
I spent more on a larger USB 3.0 hub as well, and I love it. A desktop's worth of USB ports, and it's powered; my devices won't cut out at random.
They're the best way to save a laptop's spare USB ports over time, too. I've seen some battle-damaged ports on other lappies, lol
This is a huge win for the game! π I was a little sad when I learned it was compiled with YYC, but them having a VM branch lets us have two cakes: A highly-optimized vanilla game and another branch for endless possibilities! π¦

On social media and forums, I prefer high-effort jokes and gags over shitposts. Shitposts are bewildering to anyone who's not "in" on the shit part of the post.
Jokes take more time and thought, but all we have to do is look at the art community's joke art posts, and see how more worthwhile it is.
Here's a link: π

I know I'm the "inspiration" for this post, and for that I apologize, lol
For us indies, Nitro upload had some value for uncut 60 FPS recordings and test builds; I'm not alone! Paying $15/m just to use :MillaCry: on every server would be dumb
But you got me thinking, I could only hotlink to GitHub
This is a glimmer of hope for me. I'm willing to give Stoat a try, and Northsky when that's available.
We're giving Stoat a fair shake, with a mirror of the SMA server at the moment. I'll post an invite link once we're more sure about keeping it π(And whenever uploading emojis work again, lol)
This makes me wonder if Gabe has written code in the past two decades. Every dev I know refuses to touch AI.
Vibe coding isn't only a quality issue, it's an egregious lack of information responsibility; an infosec nightmare that is already unfolding on services where AI code is pushed to prod.

Coming up in this week's build of Shang Mu Architect: Dragon Valley's tile set, background, and gimmicks have been spruced up by @23lief.bsky.social!
We're adding DV as a stage option for players! ^ v ^
It will be ready to use in the editor after 7 collision masks are done.

You can be frustrated when people share the same sheets again and again, but this post is blazingly hostile and vitriolic.
I won't ask "Did you put time into learning Krita or give up at importing brushes?" like everyone else. As a chronically angry woman, this is a shocking post over small beans!
The feeling of not doing enough is the worst one, though. For all of 2025, I felt like I wasn't doing as much on my game projects at home as I could have. I let my new job drag me down
It's fortunately the one thing I can affect the most change to. And I need to, for my job security and life goals
That has bled into my hobbies. The realization I will not only die one day, but eventually, I'll get old and want to chill. Only then making art + music, not games.
This is my prime-time to make them, and if I don't manage my scope / time / money properly, I won't get to make many (complete) games.
There's a pattern I keep seeing. Goodhearted older people don't say too much about themselves, while everyone else brags on and dotes on them.
I guess they never forgot what it took their younger selves to be where they are now.
I think I'm going through my midlife crisis. Not the flashy TV kind with sports cars or affairs. It's disquieting and personal.
Becoming a better you is hard and messy. Mistakes lose their sting, but not their presence in the mind; a disciplined mind learns to never forget, to avoid repeats.
Even at my age, those "well that was stupid of me" moments never really go away.
2023 me says a commission wasn't good enough so we had to revise it.
2026 me: The artist did *exactly* what you asked for, then you realized you needed more and paid someone else to revise it. Eat your jorts. Now.
Me when Silksong released: If Team Cherry make another game I'm not playing it lmao
Me after 3 Silksong save files: πππ πππππ... ππππ π
ππππ!!!
It will be interesting to see who quits or sticks around after the update, I can't begin to predict who it might alienate. That's my concern.
But now you got me thinking, maybe that's the reason for the update? To pull more fans back in? People like to check out big updates after a long break
This is fantastic work, y'all! π I'm so excited to revisit Avalice again with this mod
