You're right. I was just thinking more in terms of writers and editors. Too many writers think that editors are the enemy and the more successful the writer gets, the less inclined *some* are to listen to an editor's advice.

Is it that the people around them stop giving critical feedback or that the megastar stops listening to it? When I read a book by an already-famous writer & it’s terrible, I always think “OMG, where was the editor?” And then I wonder if the editor was in the background, screaming but being ignored.

Was this the dinner where Trump explained to Vance that, Constitution be damned, he will in fact run for a third term in 2028 and Vance is just going to have to play second fiddle (or better yet, just shut up) for another 4 years?
