Mongolia 2025:

This is one of my favourite photos from an amazing trip!

Pallas’s Sandgrouse in the Gobi Desert of southern Mongolia. A nice flyby as it came in for a drink watching me as it went past.

Will we ever get a chance to see this mega rarity in the UK again??

Great to hear. Gripped by the black woodpecker. We spent some time looking but didn’t see any. Cheers.

Great birding on Texel this weekend and a few bonuses on the way home after seeing the Spectacled Eider.
(Photos: Pygmy Cormorant, Short-toed Treecreeper and drake Smew at Lelystad plus Baikal Teal at Sint Pancras).

A little late to the party having been overseas…

So glad the SPECTACLED EIDER stayed to allow a successful visit to Texel, Netherlands this weekend. Great birding on Texel & a few bonuses on the way home to follow…

The American Yellow Warbler showed well albeit on a grey misty day on Boxing Day. Great to see lots of familiar faces enjoying the bird.
The bird seems to have disappeared the last couple of days but hopefully may get seen again.

It was fun spending some time with the rather showy Black-throated Diver currently visiting the Slipper Mill Pond, Emsworth, Hampshire.

I had a great trip to the Gambia last week. My first visit there.
Some stunning Bee-eaters were seen including these Swallow-tailed, Red-throated and Little.

Thanks Paul. Yes got very lucky with this shot even though this bird not as showy as some wrynecks can be!

Well it took a while to find today as seems to have a large territory. The Great Grey Shrike eventually gave itself up and was showing well this afternoon walking out SW from Stroud Bridge, Wareham Forest, Dorset.
