Lots of folks are experiencing...lets call them...difficulties getting into or back to the US. This is the first I've heard of someone being denied entry because their passport conforms with their gender (probably not the first and certainly not the last). At least it wasn't at the border, I guess.

In any functioning democracy the elimination of an extant department that protects children from lead poisoning would be a game ender for the entire administration under which it occurred.

And despite capitalism's need to have a certain amount of unemployment, throwing tons of people out of work doesn't seem like it's going to have a positive effect on the economy.

To be clear, I don't think it's much better for new hires to be purged. It's nonsense. But I think some people hear about it and think, "Well, at least it's kids out of college."

I just interviewed for a promotion. Fortunately, I work for county government and not federal. Otherwise, taking the promotion (if it should be offered) would put me in danger of being fired, ending my 11 year career. I'm not sure the general public realizes what being a probationary worker means.
