Seeking Gardens At War β Lucy Brewer
Finding nature in the most desolate of settings.
Itβs Remembrance Sunday, and I recently published a post that looks at Herbert Cowley and the 12th Battalion, London Regiment in WW1. I really enjoyed writing this one so would love people to read it!

Finding nature in the most desolate of settings.
Two blogs in two weeks?
My #Remembrance weekend blog just went up. Have a read about Herbert Cowley and the 12th Battalion, London Regiment experience in the First World War and his efforts to find a piece of normalcy in incredibly difficult circumstances. #Phd

Today was a freaking huge #PhD win.
Seven months ago I went to an archive. Today I finished a massive project off the back of it. I can't really talk about it now..but at some point I'll be able to put out into the world what I've done & I can't wait
But now...I'm starting the writing up. #PhDSky

Good luck for the presentation! I started a log on Monday where I'm writing every little thing I manage to achieve each day to try to help that sense of achievement - so easy to overlook what you've managed to do, but little by little we'll get there!

Still new to the academic blog life...I have one planned to publish on Saturday on a Remembrance / World War One topic. When do people think is actually the best time to publish to get as much engagement as possible - should I go earlier? How do people decide when's best? #PhdSky #PhDChat #academic

I'm going to pick one of these suggestions, because I'm currently pretty low vibed when it comes to the #PhD.
Starting Monday I'll 'Reframe what βprogressβ means'. I'm going to keep a running list of everything I do for the PhD, no matter how small, and will review it at the end of the week!

The Perils Of A Comma. β Lucy Brewer
The spookiness of missing punctuation.
Itβs #Halloween week! Which means now is a good time to read my latest blog post - full of all things spooky like football, vampires, and punctuation!
And the scariest thing of all - when research hits a dead end β οΈ

Iβm hoping this blog goes some way towards rectifying that. Sometimes itβs just as fun to hear about where research goes wrong, as where it goes right.

Itβs also the story of something I donβt think gets talked about much in academia. Itβs about the excitement of making an historical discovery, and the crush when you realise youβre entirely wrong. Sometimes research goes like that, but I think we tend to only advertise our wins.

I'm trying to build up my #PhD website (a slow process alongside everything else).
What do other people post about on theirs? If you have something you'd like me to write about on mine I'm happy to hear it too and will try and work it into my plans.

Youβre so right! I struggle because I always feel like Iβve not done enough, so canβt quite βjustifyβ taking a break.
But rest is so important to allow you to actually be productive when working thatβs itβs a crucial part of the process. Iβm just rubbish at it. π€¦π»ββοΈ

The Start of Year Two. β Lucy Brewer
Year one wrapped.
It doesn't help with feeling tired, but in an attempt to try and feel a bit less 'I've done nothing, I'm so behind' I wrote a 'wrapped' type post looking back over my first year helped a little though I'm still largely panicked...

It's the start of #PhD year two, and I'm pretty tired. I don't know if everyone is like this but as a part-time person I don't feel like I ever get holidays from the PhD...do other people observe the academic timetable?
I just constantly feel like I'm not doing enough, and that I'm behind #PhDChat
