Making prompt games is about finding pressure points. I have the most fun with this when it’s about a character dynamic, two player assumetric prompt games are a blast to made. Who are these people, what are the ways the story will force them against eachother (both violently and dykily)

If I were to think of most of my most recent prompt games as machines, I would describe them as machines who’s purpose is to press down on a wound

Thinking about this in the context of my many prompt driven games. I met Sasha just once sometime in 2019 and we briefly discussed our mutual interest in tarot games and just a few months later spindlehweel and anomaly were both in the world

Like I was running that game one move a day and some times it didn’t feel like I had the energy to do this. When like as a matter of actual decision space all that’s been done is removing the part where I decide the chess move and only get age creative control over the fiction

Very interesting read! I agree that feeding games into it through this lens could be said to be operating a machine. That said, having also played chess two kingdoms with u it felt like vastly more “work” to operate as a machine than play as a game
