Mr. Fort's situation presents both pressing clinical needs and significant constitutional concerns that demand immediate attention.

"At 79 years old, after nearly two decades in extreme solitary confinement combined with life-threatening medical conditions that cannot be adequately managed at the current facility's high-altitude location.

Mr. Fort turns 79 years old at the ADMAX prison in solitary confinement conditions, where has been for the past two decades. ADMAX, located in Florence, Colorado, is one of the harshest prisons in the world.

We announce with deep honor and hope our submission to urge the BOP to grant Jeff Fort a medical transfer.

Led by Attorney Amos Jones, four Black law firms, including For the People, intend to address and vindicate these egregious violations and challenge a decision which places the protections of Title VII and the right to a jury trial in certain civil cases.

The racial stereotypes and criminalization employed against Professor Beny by her employer as the "angry Black woman," including potentially being armed and dangerous, are absolutely staggering.

With both a J.D. and Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and serving currently as the Earl Warren DeLano Professor of Law, Dr. Beny was the sole AA female tenured professor teaching at the Law School and the only tenured professor ever disciplined by the then Dean in over 10 years.

Her Petition seeks to overturn the rulings that applied the employer’s controversial “honest belief” defense to dismiss her claims, including racial and gender discrimination, retaliation, and violations of procedural due process protections designed to safeguard protections for tenured faculty.

Professor Beny, who was hired in 2003, as only the second African American female tenure-track professor in the University of Michigan Law School’s then-144-year history, is challenging a 6th Circuit decision that affirmed the district court’s dismissal of her employment discrimination lawsuit.

⚖️ For the People, has with other law firms, filed a Petition for Writ of Certiorari with the Supreme Court of the United States on behalf of law professor Laura Beny.

As part of those efforts to build a record, a People’s UPR was organized as a side event during the Third Committee Session at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, NY.

Nonetheless, U.S. civil society mobilized to ensure that people’s voices are heard through important testimonies to build a record toward addressing human rights violations here in the United States.

The UPR is a unique United Nations Human Rights Council process that allows all United Nations Member States to undergo a peer review of their human rights records every 4.5 years. So far this year, the United States government is refusing to participate in this process.

Ultimately, our work at For the People, particularly prisoners, is about the expression of Love, its indomitable liberating power, and our duty to stand with all oppressed people.
