There has been a steady increase of people at work wanting to ask me how they can get their particular graphcs into one of the new computer platforms we have.
I'm getting tired of explaining that they shouldn't, as it's like wanting to use a hammer to crack a walnut.

Well, suprise suprise, 2 months on and suddenly the whole mindset has shifted back to my approach and suddenly people want to meet with me again.

Just lately my career seems to mostly consist of sitting around patiently looking ever-so slightly smug...

At the time, dozens of people were in this wider team looking into ways of working, and after I started to make some progress was told they were going in another direction, despite me stating that most likely wouldn't work, and that was the last I heard.

At work last year I spent a few months, on my own, looking into the feasability of putting some project into a new computer system.

Arse. They had a cull of mugs at work that I wasn't aware of.

As a political message, it was probably very good. I was watching it as a musician looking for entertainment, and find that style of taking over a dull backing to be uninspiring. TBH I normally enjoy metal, so it clearly wasn't aimed at me

Just had a corporate photographer at work doing some shots for Teams profiles, etc. It was good to have normal photos done for once!
Normally when I have photoshoots i'm wearing goth makeup, contact lenses and leather jeans 2 sizes too small - trying to look subtly evil while holding a guitar 😜

Spoke to a pushy BT account person earlier, and they started to move me to EE and all kinds of crap. Fortunately, we got cut off.

Rang back just now. Much nicer chap. Everything left as-is, but i get the bonus Hybrid connect thingy, and my speed goes from 150 to 900. Result!

So, I had a great weekend practice with my Rome Burns chums, but at the same time had the sad news about my old friend having passed away.

Didn't sleep too well last night. I'm away for the weekend, and got hit with the news a very old friend died. Well, shit.

There's nothing quite like being kicked when you're down.
At least it's friday.

I hope it doesn't end up being a Year of Hell. Although that does remind me I should watch ST:Voyager again.

I'm a tech guy. I build stuff. I LOVE to build stuff. Sitting around discussing data access or integration doesn't interest me - I just want to know if the system can do what i've been asked to look into so I can plan the build. All that tedious stuff is someone elses problem :D

A few weeks ago I began a nice gentle slide towards a full-time secondment into a particular project at work that I had be on the periphery. It's now a steep drop into a pit of agendas, politics, lack of information, and endless meetings about meetings to discuss meetings.
