This graphical abstract shows three marine Mediterranean habitats (sandy bottoms, rocky reefs and Posidonia oceanica seagrass meadows. Each of them has a different fish community. We also mention the functional trait metrics we used to assess the functional diversity of the fish community in the 3 different habitats; these metrics are: Functional Richness, Rao's quadratic entropy, functional divergence, functional b-diversity
