Yes, this book has lots of creative chapters. Lots of gloom, but hope peeks through the cracks as the book progresses.

A better path? Cut back on beef production altogether, and return grazing lands to nature.

This "The Ministry for the Future" chapter fills me with joy. Written in the POV of myriad environmental NGOs, listed by country in alphabetical order.
"Listen to our stories. See where you can help. Build your own project. You will love it as we do. There is no other world." #books #climate
"In 2009, climate scientists were warning that, if countries did not curb their emissions, the world would face up to 6°C of warming... in 2015...around 4°C...Today, around 2.5°C. This steady decline has happened because, contrary to popular belief, the world really is acting on climate change."

Amazing. Congratulations, and happy Halloween.

But, I attribute my own environmentalism to her. I was young, and she and others were my heroes. Individuals can inspire children to grow into adults who want to make the world a better place for nature and animals. Something to be said for that, no?
Just doing my part in echoing this anti AI-slop sentiment into the zeitgeist.
Zelda Williams put it most eloquently: "You're not making art, you're making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings . . ."
11/22/63 is his best book in my opinion. I barely describe him as a horror writer anymore.

Here’s my take on why beef matters for climate change:
“Nothing else on a pound for pound basis, except maybe refrigerants, comes close to the polluting power of beef.”
That “doesn’t mean everyone has to be vegan tomorrow,” but the goal should be to trim back…

The original integral has a cos θ dθ in the numerator, which is correctly changed to du, but as well as substituting u for sin θ elsewhere in the integral, a factor of 1/√(1-u^2) is introduced, effectively dividing the integrand by cos θ for no reason.

Got any stories about increasing loneliness in an increasingly tech-dependent society and the importance of love with other self-aware conscious beings? Ha.
That startup bought the friend.com domain for $1.8 million. These ads are a publicity stunt, but despite the word of mouth most of society is (thankfully) rejecting AI "companions." I can respect the ambition, but it's a good example of how disillusioned tech bros are set to lose a lot of money.

As for neural links and retinal projectors, I guess I'm just wondering if the zeitgeist will universally accept those kind of body modifications at a social level, or if it's simply a sci-fi vision.
Just wonderful descriptors. And I do appreciate stories that acknowledge the positive things technology can offer our emotions.
So, do you think retinal and neural implants will be accepted by a future populace? Or do you think people will mostly reject them (due to invasiveness, surgery, etc)?
One of those books that ages better in my mind as time passes. Really great novella.
