Others want the "real" feeling of achievement and know the rules by heart.

This might bring loss, underdog feelings, and in some cases (rules) confusion.

A middle path is most often required to tap into both sides but not to "break the rules" nor ending the story of a PC way too short.

It boils down to the "what do people expect" part. Some want the ultimate hero ( or negative hero) experience out of a TTRPG.

So they want bending of rules, the best stats, never to be killed and a nice little hero story wrapped around like a warm blanket.

They will never experience the full game.

Curiosity and problem solving skills are needed to become a "hacker". Thus i am not surprised to find that people who satisfy their curiosity and hone their problem solving skills with games are more likely to tread the path of a hacker. It's a mindset after all.
