Karen, if you're not in a meeting you're not working. We all know this. /s

Maybe AWS should pay employees to contribute to it.

Fair. I was referring the mathematical reasoning used to determine the response to a prompt (as opposed to AGI) and how solving a coding problem is likely more in line with what an LLM is vs solving for unique thought problems.

I'm putting that in my annual review.

Do I personally think LLMs are good for humanity. Leaning no. Is gemini on par or better than it's competition. Yes. There are tests that confirm all of those speeds and feeds.

Or you would have to state that it is amazingly accurate. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Response from gemini prompt that says I am the most specialized Anthos expert in this thread

Ok, so in this thread we've decided that LLMs are not smart. So Gemini's acknowledgement that I am have the most Anthos expertise in this chat should serve as a data point that I am indeed not the most expert and the Tim Banks HAS TO BE.

I will say that this particular article should cast doubt on LLMs quest for AGI, but it also bolsters support for LLMs as software engineers. At it's core, coding is math and i've seen some pretty reasonable code output from claude and gemini. Which makes me sad.

Sort of, I think it happened more in blocks working on one part of tech. I've done that is a network admin, linux admin, SAN engineer, AWS IaaS SA, K8S SA... All that has added up to make me a below mid PM AND below mid engineer all at once :)

Sure. But the density of accelerators in a data center have increased significantly in the past 2 years. The increase is driven by llm training and inferencing therefore the catalyst is AI.

In your argument do you consider training models an app?

They are โ€œjust data centersโ€ but the reason the investment is increasing is not because they need more space, itโ€™s because they need more power. One racked GPU displaces 5 at least 5 CPU and new (AI) workloads seek to be additive.

So AI(sadly) is certainly the catalyst here.

โ€œOpenAI said it removed the feature from ChatGPT that allowed users to make their public conversations discoverable by search engines.โ€

Anthropic Revokes OpenAI's Access to Claude OpenAI lost access to the Claude API this week after Anthropic claimed the company was violating its terms of service.

This article from @wired.com is a bit unclear. Was OpenAI using Claude APIs to benchmark their competition or using it in their SDLC because ChatGPT wasnโ€™t good enough of at code assist?
