Fair. I was referring the mathematical reasoning used to determine the response to a prompt (as opposed to AGI) and how solving a coding problem is likely more in line with what an LLM is vs solving for unique thought problems.

I'm putting that in my annual review.

Do I personally think LLMs are good for humanity. Leaning no. Is gemini on par or better than it's competition. Yes. There are tests that confirm all of those speeds and feeds.

Or you would have to state that it is amazingly accurate. 😜

I will say that this particular article should cast doubt on LLMs quest for AGI, but it also bolsters support for LLMs as software engineers. At it's core, coding is math and i've seen some pretty reasonable code output from claude and gemini. Which makes me sad.

Sort of, I think it happened more in blocks working on one part of tech. I've done that is a network admin, linux admin, SAN engineer, AWS IaaS SA, K8S SA... All that has added up to make me a below mid PM AND below mid engineer all at once :)

Sure. But the density of accelerators in a data center have increased significantly in the past 2 years. The increase is driven by llm training and inferencing therefore the catalyst is AI.

They are “just data centers” but the reason the investment is increasing is not because they need more space, it’s because they need more power. One racked GPU displaces 5 at least 5 CPU and new (AI) workloads seek to be additive.

So AI(sadly) is certainly the catalyst here.
