In January 2025, I grew wary of how Discord handled my personal data and where the platform was headed. I built Discorch, a tool that guides you through Discord's undocumented privacy request process to bulk delete messages. It produces a CSV plus instructions for contacting Discord's privacy team to request deletion. As more people used it, Discord kept changing the process and eventually imposed arbitrary limits, including blocking deletion of your own DM messages through this route because you can still delete them manually, limiting it to only left servers & groups. In spring 2025, I reported a security vulnerability to Discord that could have enabled unauthorised destructive actions against critical user-owned data without proper authentication, and I was awarded $2,000. Later that summer, I registered Fluxer Platform AB, a Swedish limited liability company, which required a minimum deposit of $2,000.

Hey everyone! I wasn't sure in what way Fluxer would take off, if at all. This was an early decision to be able to keep the possibility open to focus on selling commercial licenses. Since Fluxer so clearly has taken off in ways I couldn't imagine now, I will be removing the CLA requirement before PRs reopen again

The age verification company Discord uses for age verification-Persona-has a service where they tie your selfie to your ID and financial records to provide to ICE and other U.S. Gov agencies.
How do I know?
Persona exposed a server to the Internet and some enterprising person looked inside!

Why have I chosen Fluxer? Some important things to me is that Fluxer... Is open-source. Enables free self-hosting for servers. Supports both x86 and ARM installers for Windows, MacOS, and Linux. Has a native mobile app as #1 on the roadmap. Plans to have the ability to publish forums to the web, fixing the "Discords as a resource" problem. According to their privacy policy, they may restrict access from regions that require gov-ID or biometric scans, this puts the burden on the user to access Fluxer instead of falling back to global age-verification. While the Fluxer app is being developed, I encourage you to donate if this service sounds promising to you. In the meantime, you may add Fluxer as a "browser app" on Android and IOS to use Fluxer on the go
I made a @fluxer.app server today. Seems very promising. Once the mobile app is pushed out and the documentation is better, this seems like a no-brainier.

Yes, I understand this is a major task when it comes to moderation. I'd like to point out 2 things: 1 ) My own experience with Furality has been very positive, I've never come across any trolls or attendees that intent to disrupt things, whatever was being done is working. 2 ) If moderation is becoming a larger issue, implement your own moderation system that players can quickly use via the Furality portal. That has great potential if it's not implemented already.
"We also anticipate that age verification will, at some point, become a platform standard for large events, either through social expectations or legal requirements. We donβt know if a platform requirement will happen before our next event or not, but we want to minimize possible disruption due to a major change like this in the middle of an event cycle" Do you (the Furality team) genuinely think someone will come at you mid-convention to enforce age-verification? Given how many cons operate as all-ages / teen friendly, why would someone come after you, a virtual convention? I understand that regulations are getting tightly, why not put that burden on the user?
"...allows us to operate responsibly as online age-related regulations and expectations continue to evolve globally" I would really expect such a large, online event, to understand what makes internet communities so important and freeing globally. Many attendees go to Furality because they don't feel safe attending a physical con in or outside their country. This compliance to today's over-reaching online safety acts are frankly, scary.
Some more thoughts I'd like out there regarding their announcement post...

I've previously been less worried about vrchat's age verification because I didn't foresee any larger events enforcing on a mass scale.
Furality announcement make me very concerned for the future of vrchat's communities. It doesn't make sense to me, not at all.
