I had business at sheriff's office in far west Texas a few years ago, and I saw a cardboard standee of Trump in the lobby. At another location we informed a sheriff that a group of folks was coming from Dallas for an event, and he said, "I hope they're not Democrats."

Without digging out my cards, I recall that there a number of Twin Peaks phone cards. Do you have any of the others?

You know, I've got to say, this one made me laugh. (Though you could insert just about any recent news item on that screen, and I'd likely chuckle.)

Pre-ordered my copy from my local independent bookstore about two weeks ago. Looking forward to this one!

Thinking about the importance of "waking" in #TwinPeaks:

Lynch:
1)"One day we wake up and realize [our life] was a dream--and we realize who we truly are."
2) "You die, you have a little time in a dream, and you come back."

Laura: "I saw what is was, and it was so beautiful. I was awake."

And the phrase "going postal" originated in the 80's (due to a slate of mass shootings in post offices).

"The Log Lady embodies Twin Peaks."
On this day in 2017, #TwinPeaks: The Return aired it's final episode. In this clip from #LogLadyFilm, the show's collaborators reflect on Catherine's iconic role as the Log Lady.

The Eraserhead book features interviews with a young, unguarded, Lynch. The Tao of Twin Peaks presents good theories and makes some convincing arguments about the false reality of the original series. (I'm paraphrasing). The Sonic book is a rare full-length look at how Lynch uses sound in his work.

Added three new book to my Lynch/Twin peaks library. All seem like good books with much to offer. I’m on the fence about a fourth book though (second pic); it’s handsome (and Wrapped in Plastic gets a mention!), but it’s pretty much an overview of Lynch’s career without any real depth.

I'm happy to see this panel about fashion and costuming design in #TwinPeaks finally show up on YouTube. It's really worth a watch. (And yes, that's me at the 1-hour mark--you can barely hear it--asking about Ben Horne's polka-dot ties.)

Yes, for sure. The divisions were not planned in advance. No traditional episodes (with 4-act structures) were written. The breakdown into β€œparts” (not episodes) happened in post, where the musical performances allowed for good β€œstopping points.”

It's a tough concept to explain to the average viewer: Lynch approached The Return as if it were a film, refusing to be constrained by the limits of TV production. He cast, shot, edited, scored, (etc) the project as if it were one of his movies. Yes, it showed on TV, but it was envisioned as a film.
