I love podcasts and feminism. Radical, intersectional feminism. Curtailing trans people’s rights to exist freely is not feminist. Do the reading. > Always support πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ > Vote Green πŸ’š > Norfolk, UK

Is β€œequality of opportunity” just a slogan now? Today I sent an email to the Equality and Human Rights Commission.

Today I sent an email to the Equality and Human Rights Commission with a very simple question: do you actually mean β€œpromote equality of opportunity” and β€œhuman rights”, or are those just nice words for the website?

Email shared in full on my blog.

Or, as some would call it Matt, democracy.

Green Party wins Gorton and Denton by-election with Labour pushed into third by Reform Hannah Spencer, a 34-year-old plumber, also becomes the first Green Party candidate to win a Westminster by-election.

Brilliant speech from the new @greenparty.org.uk MP after a clear victory

Mamdani Is Getting Snowballed by His Own NYPD The situation is absurd. The stakes are real.

Just underneath the absurdity lies one of the most volatile fault lines in city politics: The rift between elected government on the one hand, and the political power of the NYPD and the constellation of interests with which it is aligned on the other.

Ignore the clowns who come on here periodically to say Bluesky's irrelevant. Just this week I saw @katelynburns.com @ziibiing.com and @posters-madness.bsky.social raise tens of thousands of dollars for mutual aid for trans people and immigrants through this website for dorks.

To the surprise of nobody outside 10 Downing Street, most Labour voters want left policy of some description and not fascism in a nicer coat of paint.

A Green win must mean that "left behind" voters forgotten by Westminster want open borders and legalised class A drugs. That's how it works right?

'I didn't grow up wanting to be a politician, I'm a plumber'

The green Party's Hannah Spencer has won the Gorton and Denton, with Reform in second and Labour finished third

So The Greens won 😊

Clearly the UK voters don't like being dragged to the far-right by Labour. Who'd have thought - well, everyone but London-centric Starmer and his middled aged male advisers.

Just been going back over the day I resigned from The Infinite Monkey Cage and as I look through that meeting, the executives increasingly look like they were inspired by the Stasi - oh well, they got what they wished for

Emblematic of how weak is the Centrist grasp of today's politics. If voters believe all politicians to be liars (which Starmer is here telling them to believe) they vote for the populist lies they like not the unpalatable 'truths' of 'sensible Centrist grown-ups'.

The lying is self-defeating.

You are a beacon of decency in these degraded times. To stand up for what’s right, to defend the marginalised, even at great personal cost, is honestly an example to the rest of us. It inspires us to keep fighting against the anti-intellectualism of cruelty and bigotry currently surrounding us all.

If children were more politically active they would be quite pissed to be told that their screen time is β€œthe most urgent public health issue” while the largest measles outbreak since the vaccine sweeps their schools because of conspiracies that the adults in their life believed from social media.

Today's ruling on the EHRC's interim guidance is a disappointing, confusing and mixed picture.

A trans woman who is a customer in a cafΓ© can use the women's toilets, but if she works there she might not be able to.

Once again everyday life is being made a legal labyrinth for trans people.

Statement Title: On the High Court ruling and DfE guidance.
Statement Text: As an (outgoing) committee, we are looking through the High Court ruling and Department for Education guidance that have been published hours after each other.

The gist we get from the DfE guidance does not paint a great picture for trans youth who wish to socially transition, this is regardless of if their parents are suportive of them or not.

Add onto this, that once trans youth do escape from the hell on earth that will be school for them, the High Court ruling will make it such that they can't use the toilets that match their gender in the workplace.

Guidance such as this will cause irreparable harm to trans people who just want to live comfortably. This guidance will cause trans people, which are already feeling incredibly embattled, to lose faith.

We are currently writing motions to our Spring Conference, and we are having conversations internally about the best way forwards to fight it.
