The first day of meteorological spring won't feel like it, with temperatures more typical of mid-winter and leftover lake effect snow showers ending SE of Lake Ontario. The cold will begin to relax Monday, with a significant warming trend then following for the rest of the week.

A cold front will cross the region early this morning with a line of rain showers moving from west to east. A period of light snow is likely overnight tonight through Sunday morning with minor snow accumulations of a dusting to an inch or two. Much colder Sunday-Monday.

Clearing skies have given us the opportunity to see the lake ice on Lake Erie & Ontario. This type of satellite image allows for greater contrast of ice/snow in green vs dark blue which is water/land. The cyan blue, light orange, pink & red are clouds at different heights.

Leftover lake effect snow showers southeast of Lake Ontario will end today, with dry and cold weather otherwise. It will turn milder and remain dry for Friday, with a cold frontal passage early Saturday then ushering colder weather back into the area for the weekend.

A wintry mix will occur across the eastern Lake Ontario region today and tonight. Greatest snowfall will be through the Saint Lawrence Valley, and also upon the Tug Hill. A few tenths of an inch of ice is also likely, especially for the southern Tug Hill region.

A nor'easter will advance up the Atlantic coastline this weekend, spreading light snow across WNY, and perhaps east of Lake Ontario. Greater snow totals are expected just to our south and east and if this storm tracks a little closer us, greater chances for 4 inches will occur.
