After briefly weakening, Andrew regained category 5 status with winds up to 165 mph on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. The hurricane made landfall on Elliott Key, Florida, and then near Homestead on the morning of August 24. The storm continued to move westward into the [highlight] Gulf of America, [/highlight] where it gradually turned northwestward, bringing Andrew into central Louisiana on August 26 as a Category 3 hurricane. Once inland, the storm turned to the northeast and eventually merged with a frontal system over the mid-Atlantic states on August 28. With a barometric pressure of 922 millibars at the time of landfall in Florida, Andrew is the third most intense with peak winds of 165 mph to strike the continental United States.

I find it very grim that they seem to have gone into old gov pages like this NOAA/NWS page on Hurricane Andrew's 30th anniversary a few years ago to make this stupid change
