Finn turned a cruel smile his way. “No? And I guess I could be with you instead?” There’s something behind the wicked twist to Finn’s lips… yes, it’s there in his eyes—they plead with Ætheren, but it’s so subtle… no it must just be his wishful thinking and although Ætheren so desperately wanted to say yes! the word got caught in his throat. Gods, he wanted to scream it. Yes, be with me! I’d treat you right. I’d be good for you. But Ætheren’s throat constricted, and he could not get the words out. Finn’s smile morphed into a grimace as his eyes drifted down. “That’s what I thought.” Finn’s voice is low and shaky. “Korrin might break my heart. He might be a selfish, arrogant bastard, but at least he can be honest with me.” Finn’s eyes raised to meet Ætheren’s again, lined with silver and a cool fire burning behind them. “At least he isn’t afraid,” Finn said and then walked briskly past him, shoving his hands into his pockets.

Ætheren has a moment to finally express what he feels, but he cannot find the words… 🎪🖤✨ #WIPSnips from TMF for “walk”

Characters in my novels do tend to die. Not everyone—certainly nowhere near Game of Thrones level but some do die. I don’t want to say too much more because of spoilers other than to say death sometimes is transient in my stories and may not be what it seems. 🖤✨
