Ah I had the actor’s dream last night darlings: I was in an unknown Shakespeare play (possibly his lost Cardenio?) in a high status role (a duke or king) and (in keeping with actor’s dream genre conventions) hadn’t learned my lines. I had the opening speech which made matters especially exposing

Dream that Hotel Reception this morning want to charge me £6 (or £8 with pickled onion) for the sandwich that was offered to me gratis the previous evening by my brother, who’s the assistant manager but is now off duty. Breakfast is included in my room package anyway so I tell Reception to forget it

Dreamed there was a beach and the North Sea and basalt cliffs at Waterbeach. And an elderly woman (who clamped her hand to my shoulder) needing my help to pick her way along the coastal path. She made me agree to come back and meet her here on the next bank holiday

I did a terrible thing in my dream last night. I’m too ashamed to record it here. But after I’d done it a giant flying turtle landed on the roof of our skyscraper top-floor apartment and I took some amazing video footage

Realising for the first time now that I’ve a bald pate how similar to a bald pate is the kneecap (a relatively hairless dome surrounded by haired foothills). I will enjoy their company now that there are three of us

Dreamed that the AirB&B we’d rented was being used as a veterinary surgery. The vet was surprised and annoyed to find us there but later mellowed and offered me the use of his spare suit-bag (which I politely declined; I felt this offended him). Later I lost an espadrille

We try to remember the number for the Carbon Monoxide Hotline. 7273 my other companion thinks and tries to call it but her phone is out of charge. Inside the room one of the princesses stirs. She’s blind and very weak but it feels like there’s nothing we can do to help her 2/2

Dream we’re walking home late at night when we notice a broken downstairs window in one of the house on the lane. My companion thinks she can smell carbon monoxide. We call through the broken window. Two elderly Russian princesses are motionless in bed in that downstairs room. 1/2

Dreamed I found an ingenious improvised (but ultimately ineffectual) guitar capo (made from magnets and paperclips) under my son’s bed. Later I saw a commercially manufactured one online for sale for £29

Dreamed I was supervising a student whose dissertation project was based around becoming and living as a puppet. At our pre-supervision meeting she slipped her wooden head on to demonstrate and I was amazed how emotional I felt just looking at her profoundly fixed expression
