@danielleybourne.bsky.social et al. discuss the significant advances that artificial intelligence brings to insect biomonitoring, particularly in providing decision support systems to help farmers identify pests and virus vectors, but also the challenges to overcome.

This year I worked with several project partners to pool resources and share data to develop a stage-structured model that uses insect phenotype data to estimate vector (aphid) and disease (barley yellow dwarf virus) spread in cereal fields. Preprint out just in time for the end of year 🎉🌾🦗

It's been a busy week this week! On Tuesday we hosted @carmen-escudero.bsky.social who gave a great talk on the barley rhizosphere! And today involved helping one of our MSc students set-up their first experiment 🦠🦗

Invited seminar today at the Department of Evolution, Ecology and Behaviour @Liverpool Uni. I am looking forward to discussing research with @danielleybourne.bsky.social and colleagues. Thanks for this opportunity!
