Streetspac is funded by Mark Gorton, the billionaire who made his $$ ripping off artists' copyrights, who funded RFK Jr's anti vaxx children's org and presidential run, helping Trump win the presidency and getting RFK the CDC job. Do not take his advice on this, or anything.

One thing made abundantly clear the last few years, we need better representation in local government. It's important we all stay informed about plans for more building & more street/bus changes in our community. If you can make it Monday ask these candidates what their plans are for our community.

Speaking of cultural benefits, the VOS almost forced Mitchell's Soul Food, a 55 year old black owned business that serves church goers, out. But this change saves this landmark business. www.bkreader.com/featured-new...

Our X and Insta are full of video of how the parallel and side streets "accommodate" when you close Vanderbilt. Lots and lots of particulate pollution is just concentrated pushed onto other residents and our first responders get stuck in gridlock.

OK now how many PH residents take taxis? Get large deliveries? Get their boilers fixed? Have friends and family come visit them? And how many of the 78 businesses on Vanderbilt get deliveries? Stop only looking at the tree and try to understand it's in a forest.

No need to share a link since we're commenting on the posted article. When you say evolve.... for who exactly? Guessing you mean it should evolve to be more pleasant for you. But in case you haven't noticed, not everyone lives like you or like you want them to. Which means we need to compromise.

But "reporters" who want it to succeed ignore all these issues and continue to write how wildly popular it is. It's not.

Don't believe the shiny happy story pumped out on this OS from sympathetic blogs & "reporters". 41 businesses, 8 faith institutions, 2200 residents wrote letters and signed a petition to scale it back. After 5 committees gave reports on the problems, the EC of CB8 also said it needed to be changed.

We've been organizing our Brooklyn neighborhood for almost 2 years. We're here to tell you - it's hard work, but it works and you'll meet a ton of amazing people and make great friends.

If you worked for 18F and got fired, Group together to start a consulting company.

It’s just a matter of time before DOGE needs you to fix the mess they inevitably create.

They will have to hire your company as a contractor to fix it. But on your terms.

I’m happy to invest and/or help

#Community!! WE SAVED MITCHELL'S SOUL FOOD!!! A 55 year old black-owned business in PH almost forced to close due to the Vanderbilt OS. Our #savemitchells campaign brought folks from all over NYC, LI & NJ to keep them going last year & managers left Sundays off the schedule this year! #organize

That's the narrative a certain group with a distinct diversity deficit pushes to keep power to push through their own agenda like high-rise development and street changes benefiting ride shares and amazon.

Our neighborhood started organizing about 2 years ago. We moved fast because we have a large team divvying up the work. In these times especially organizing at the local level is important. You can start by going to your community board and meeting other organizers in your area.

You'll also find video of EMS and FDNY stuck in the dangerous gridlock it causes when they close 8 blocks of a commercial street connecting GAP to Atlantic during Friday rush hour.

Technically safety marshals are meant to man the barricades at each intersection and react to emergencies. In reality, they're people paid to wear yellow vests who disappear for hours at a time. Plenty of video on our Instagram page of this "popular" OS deserted every Sunday. unpch.org

It's not just the $$$ - 41 PH businesses signed letters asking it be curtailed as did 8 PH faith institutions. Over 2300 residents & first responders signed a petition asking it be curtailed, & after 5 CB8 committees submitted reports, CB8's Executive Committee said it needs to be scaled back.

False - NYPD has nothing to do with the VOS. The largest chunk of money goes to pay the marshals who are supposed to man the barricades - but in fact, don't. The more you FOIL, the more you know.

We community organizers in PH/CH wondered the same thing, so we FOILed the DOT's contract with the PHNDC. Turns out this "volunteer operation" actually has a $140,000 payroll - none of which goes to NYPD - a good chuck of which is paid by the restaurants.

We know you guys will all keep lying and stepping on vulnerable, struggling people to get your own myopic way, but we hope in all sincerity that you never know a day's peace while doing so.

People who, though no fault of their own, are purposefully left in the dark about the struggles of people like the ones who came to the meeting and spoke last week.

Your decision to continue to misrepresent the people of our community and the issues they face due to @TransAlt initiatives matters because these DOT survey links have all been pumped out to your same misdirected audience by people trying to tip the scales in their favor.

Data is only as good as its collection, its context and those interpreting it, and clearly you and Alex are reading the data wrong.

Nice of you to out a DOT employee for releasing data to the public without going through the legal FOIL process. Whoops, that could get them fired.

01.03.2025 17:03 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

As for your claim that you couldn’t get the survey via FOIL? Lame. We did. We got it in January. Sounds more likely you don't know how to write a simple FOIL request than some deep-state plot to keep your beloved blog in the dark.

Not the 1st time ur source, Alex Morano, publicist & "Volunteer @TransAlt Chair," planted lies about our residents to try to override & silence the people here. But as a voting member of the Underhill review committee this is clearly a shameful attempt to undermine their work before it's finished.
