MAP is excited to announce the launch of the Healthcare Access Project (HAP). HAP helps clients obtain and maintain Medicaid eligibility through assistance with applications, appeals, and redeterminations.

#tbt During the fall, CVLAP held its annual conference at Lansing Community College. The two-day event featured speakers from across CVLAP and its partner organizations, including Lakeshore Legal Aid, @miattygen.bsky.social tygen.bsky.social, and the University of Michigan Health System.

Last month, we partnered with Safe & Just Michigan and the Allen Neighborhood Center to host an expungement fair in Lansing. We were able to serve 86 clients in total. Thank you to all of our volunteers, law students, and attorneys who helped make this event possible!

Last month, Managing Attorney Tish Lee presented at a Washtenaw Housing Alliance event for landlords, highlighting resources that support housing stability for both landlords and tenants. #tbt

We're excited to share that MAP was awarded a Technology Initiative Grant by @legalservicescorp.bsky.social to continue partnering with Michigan Legal Help to enhance MI's statewide website that helps people without lawyers address their legal issues.

Our Battle Creek office recently had a new mural painted on its wall as part of "Color the Creek," an annual week-long festival focused on bringing public art to the Battle Creek community. This was our second year participating in the event.

Legal aid organizations are a lifeline for millions of Americans each year. Last year, MAP closed a total of 9,397 cases across its programs, providing critical legal support in areas like housing, domestic violence, and access to public benefits. #MAPMatters #LSCMatters

Jim Schaafsma, MPLP’s Housing Law Attorney, was recently featured in a Mid-Michigan NOW article describing the increase in eviction cases throughout Genesee County.

Kara Moberg, Managing Attorney at FLS, was recently featured in a Michigan Daily article. The article focused on a new study by the University of Michigan School of Public Health that describes the experiences of women farmworkers in Michigan.
