I wish we could ignore Bill Gates on the climate crisis. But he’s a billionaire, so we can’t | George Monbiot Money talks – and his essay denouncing ‘near-term emissions goals’ at Cop30 mostly argues the case for letting the ultra-rich off the hook

We should vote only for those who promise to make billionaires history.
We need a great levelling, through tax and redistribution.

Could storms like Melissa become more common as the planet warms? Experts estimate that Melissa was about 10 per cent stronger because of climate change.

Its winds reached 295 kph and dumped over a metre of rain in parts of Jamaica as it left a trail of destruction across the Caribbean.A rapid analysis from London’s Imperial College shows human driven climate change may have made the storm more likely, and more intense www.euronews.com/green/2025/1...

"Rovina's Choice" Shows How The Shutdown of U.S.A.I.D. Has Already Killed Hundreds of Thousands
YouTube video by The New Yorker "Rovina's Choice" Shows How The Shutdown of U.S.A.I.D. Has Already Killed Hundreds of Thousands

Which is why we have made “Rovina’s Choice.” We cannot let the people affected – the health workers like those at Clinic 7 and the families like Rovina Naboi’s — go unseen. And we cannot let the consequences go unaccounted for.

Hi everyone - always happy to see attention for my book - but Keenan's review has A TON of spoilers. Not really a good idea because if a potential reader already knows what's going to happen, why read the book? Would you consider asking him to take out the spoilers?

Gun violence is out of control. The victims of gun violence are Republicans, Democrats, independents, and kids, who have no political affiliation whatsoever.

We need to tone down the incendiary political rhetoric, for sure, but we also need to do something about guns.
The guns!

Go go go book on in! Leone Ross is a titan of the literary world.

If you're a fiction writer of 5,000 words I can't recommend Leone's guidance and sharp eye enough.

Well, @dmccaulay.bsky.social wrote a book about that!

My answer: why not maximise dawn and twilight instead? Long-nap in a cool, dark room between 10 am and 2pm, and have a shorter night sleep between midnight and 4 am.
