Brecht and Lotte Lenya always lift me up, when Trump and his corrupt crew weigh me down.

So, it's back to shooting puppies for cowgirl Barbie. Let the professional TV wrestler protect the Reich and Heimat for a month or two.

We've driven the country off the road and wrapped it around a tree. An election won't fix it. A few performative laws won't help. Time for a reset, a new constitutional convention. Let the states vote whether want to stay or go.

For four years, Biden's justice department dragged its feet and let Trump avoid the consequences of openly, blatantly, publicly breaking the law repeatedly. Do democrats care more about not wanting to hurt people's feelings than about justice?

Some day I'd like to visit Gerhart Hauptmann's home down there in Silesia. Now a museum. A bit remote, but doable I think.

If the point of this war was regime change, why didn't Trump have a talk with the CIA (not surfer girl)? They already changed the regime there once before back in the 50s.

As a humanities major, I took a year of calculus because I felt every education needs a balance.

My breath was taken away by this post so I had to share it - best thing I've ever seen a STEM person write about academia and the fact that it's so shocking I almost wonder if it was written by a stealth humanities person says a lot about how little we are succeeding in fully educating in STEM.

Post image Sulpicia (fl. late 1st century BCE) was one of the very few known female poets of ancient Rome whose work has survived, offering a rare glimpse into the inner world of a Roman woman. Associated with the literary circle of the poet Tibullus, she wrote a small but striking body of elegiac poems expressing love, desire, and personal emotion, and the first and only known woman from that era associated with comedic writing. She was also known for openly discussing and writing poems about female sexual desire
Unlike the idealized women often portrayed in Roman love poetry, Sulpicia spoke for herselfβ€”boldly and authenticallyβ€”writing of her passion for a man named Cerinthus. Her poems break from convention by celebrating female agency in love, an unusual and daring subject for her time.
Though only six short poems are definitively attributed to her, Sulpicia’s voice stands out for its honesty, wit, and literary skill.

Republicans may lose an election because a vast swathe of Americans hate them and Trump, hate I’ve not seen before. But hate will not carry us forward. Trump must meet justice. We need justice and help for all who suffer from this malignant administration.

It’s Done On Iran: looking forward, not back.

A bad means to a good end only adds more bad to the world. Republican presidents have gotten used to ignoring the constitution and starting wars on their own.

I think Putin also claimed his invasion of Ukraine was a defense operation. Maybe that's where Trump got the idea when he did the first strike on Iran.

It sounds like Germany's Merz is trying to work a "deal" with Trump: we help you guys in Iran, but you gotta help us with defending Ukraine against Putin.

Vertical view of interior of Solvay Library in Brussels featuring a gigantic hall in eclectic style with precious-wood dΓ©cor and bookshelves, an upstairs balcony area, mosaics and coloured stained glass windows. A woman crossing the hall adds a dimension of the place.
The Solvay Library, the magnificent setting of the former Institute of Sociology, was created under the impulse of Ernest Solvay and built by the architects Constant Bosmans and Henri Vandeveld. Inaugurated in 1902, the Solvay Institute of Sociology is one of the most prestigious remains of the Leopold Park. Abandoned and vandalized for several years, this listed building was restored to its former glory in 1995 after a restoration campaign led by the architects Deleuze and Metzger. After having hosted researchers from all over the world, it is now a place for private and cultural events.
