Absolutely! I think the same can be said for starting things “late” in life too. You barley even know what you really want in your 20s. Some ppl totally start over in their 30s and 40s. It’s never too late!

Don't let 'em lie to ya, kids. It's not easier when you're in your 30s, you're just more of a realist and better at rolling with it. Resilience, baby. Don't lose your capacity for dreaming, though. That's too far in the other direction.

Love getting my Discord account hacked, and immediately recovering it, and going through the steps of securing it, and reaching out to Discord support, and being told they can't remove the violation and that my Very Limited Status should clear in a few days, and it still being there 21 days later.

But we are capable of adaptation, change, and growth, and if we are interested in feeling connected with others, we must grow in this way.

We also don't know what we don't know. Many of us didn't realize we were being inconsiderate and coming off a certain way until someone told us so. That's the neurodivergence, and that's okay.

But that mechanism ultimately causes us to perpetuate the cycle of harm, as we do to others what was done to us. There are better ways to establish a spot at the table.

I think a lot of the resistance we feel hearing things like this is down to past experiences with being invalidated as people. We are in constant fight mode to be seen and heard.

And, yes, it is difficult. Those of us who have learned to do it have almost certainly learned the hard way. But like it or not, it is necessary in order to make and keep friends.

That is how you lose friends. Reciprocity is necessary. Learning how to talk WITH people rather than AT them is a skill that can and should be learned.

Being so inflexible, so overtly uninterested in others and unwilling to engage unless the conversation somehow elevates your own interests, communicates to others that you don’t actually care about them but you do expect them to care about you.

As an ND person I find it frustrating to speak with other ND people who go nonstop about themselves and the things they personally care about and then shut down as soon as the topic shifts away from them. Or, worse, are astoundingly rude and dismissive.
