turning off copilot is a must. However, the esarch option in Outlook is still quite useless. It just gives you random emails without the keywords you seacrh for.

EU simplification agenda will flood chemical regulation with changes A patchwork of proposals to ‘simplify’ laws is close to the finish line, while the wait for the REACH revision continues

European Union deregulation efforts are filtering down into the chemical sphere. The European Commission wants less burden for industry, but some groups warn that environmental, health, and other protections could decrease. cen.acs.org/policy/chemi... #chemsky 🧪

I think I managed to use my old iMac from 2014 as a great quality, large screen for my work provided pc laptop, with a really awful screen -both in size and in display quality.

#hardware recycling!

We did not get the prize, it was a very hard competition! Congratulations to the winners!!!
#ClusterMAV day was great, and we heard a talk by Enric F. Gel that gave us a lot think about!

The most similar to eco-fascism is the sustainable regrowth movement claiming that human population must be reduced to keep our living standards while not destroying the planet. This is really niche and not really a society trend.

I fail to remember ecofascism in The Parable of the Sower. It's plain old libertarian, non-interventionist capitalism gone rogue.

Having had more litigation experience now than I ever wished for: a great majority of it is attempts at intimidation. To get through successfully, you have to be willing to read ridiculous accusations against you, sip your coffee and go “aha. Your thoughts are noted.”

How gold prices cause mercury contamination in crops As small-scale gold mining increases to meet demand, local crops absorb gaseous mercury emitted by the illegal and semilegal operations

When David McLagan’s team sampled mercury isotopes in cassava, maize, and peanut crops grown downwind of a small-scale gold-mining operation in Nigeria, the scientists discovered that the plants were taking up mercury from the air, not the soil or water. cen.acs.org/environment/... #chemsky 🧪

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.
