Gung hay fat choy! Happy Year of the Fire Horse, which happens to be my sign. (So now you know how old I am!) Today my book launches in U. S. bookstores, so I feel it's and especially auspicious occasion! #victorygardensforbees #bees

You will in fact make their whole entire day. I have had scientists get so excited I asked they sent me everything they ever published.

This is so good
And the fact that it's a PSA...
This is the content I came here for.
03.03.2026 16:29 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Excellent article. I often see Chiasmocleis and Hamptophryne while walking forest trails at night, but I can't recall any proximities to tarantulas. Going forward I will be paying closer attention :)

Let's meet Micromelo undatus, also called "miniature melo", a species of "bubble shell" sea snail.
She's got a little art deco backpack!
These snails live in shallow waters at locations around the world (Hawaii, South Africa, Japan).
A screenshot of a conversation I had with someone who stole my photo in which I ask them to not steal.
Part 2 of my conversation with someone who stole a photo of mine.
Pages like these are awful, stealing other people's work and uploading it themselves. A common theme among them is getting defensive and blocking anyone who calls them out. Just got blocked by this one after asking them to take down my photo. Repost buttons exist for a reason. Avoid aggregates.

01.03.2026 02:45 β π 7 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Angled-down image of a frog perched on a brown leaf and facing left. The frog's principal ground color is black, with yellowish-white stripes running from the nose through the eye and down the back to the legs. A second stripe runs along the lower jaw, terminating at the front legs. The legs are a light brown and there is a triangular flashmark of bright yellow at the top of the thigh. The frog also has some dark brown blobs attached to the lower back - four tadpoles, hanging on until the male frog can transport them to a suitable source of water.
Know what doesn't suck right now, or ever? Nature. This Pale-striped Poison Frog (Ameerega hahneli) was hopping across an open area at our NE Peru field station, on his way to find a suitable wet place to deposit his tadpoles (such as the axils of a bromeliad). #herps #frogs #NaturePhotography πΏ

25.02.2026 22:02 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Angled-down photo of a salamander on a green leaf, body pointing diagonally from upper left to lower right, with the tail curled in a circle and touching the body near the hind leg. The salamander's ground color is a light grayish-brown, with some pinkish highlights on the nose and on the tops of the limbs. Essentially it resembles a little turd on a leaf, a useful bit of camouflage. These salamanders can be found from the ground to up high in the rainforest canopy.
I'm processing Peru photos today. Here's an in-situ Mushroom-tongue Salamander (Bolitoglossa peruviana), perhaps a meter off the ground. They often have bits of detritus sticking to them, but it still makes my photographer's eye twitch a bit :) More in ALT #herps #salamanders #NaturePhotography πΏ
