🚨 BREAKING: The OLBCF Foundation issues a strong response to Governor DeWine’s signing of HB 96—raising urgent concerns over its impact on Black Ohioans. We’re also sounding the alarm on Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” which could further endanger equity and opportunity in our communities.

We demand that state lawmakers listen to the courts, the communities they serve, and the educators on the frontlines. OLBCF will continue to monitor developments in this case and advocate for policies that advance equity, fairness, and justice in Ohio’s education system.

Join us for a special Focus Group hosted by OLBCF to help shape the release of the State Ohio Black Report: The Voters Voice.

But we’re not done. The policy still leaves barriers in place—and Black and low-income communities are still carrying the weight.

This is progress, not victory. Keep speaking up. Keep pushing. Systems only shift when we do.

Starting June 1, patients will not have their appointments canceled for not being able to pay a copay upfront. That change happened because voices were raised.

Community pressure works. After public outcry and advocacy from leaders, organizations, and everyday people, Cleveland Clinic updated its copay policy.

71 Years Later, the Fight Continues
On this day in 1954, the Supreme Court ruled in Brown v. Board of Education that “separate but equal” was unconstitutional.
Today, we remember this landmark decision — but also reflect on the growing racial and economic divides in our schools.
