screenshot of a tweet from the texas rangers baseball team depicting a statute of jay banks, a notorious texas ranger law man
the texas rangers just put up a statue of a man (jay banks) well-known for trying to keep schools in texas segregated, despite the passing of brown v. board of education. the statue was originally at dallas’ love field airport before being removed in 2020 (remember those times? lol)

The state case was actually quite poorly reasoned but no more so than any one of a million GOP state cases. This is an outrageous procedural step and dissent seems a step away from asking for the court to be packed.

If I have one problem with all the Calvard Trails games and continuing with #TrailsBeyondtheHorizon, it's that it's easy for boss battles to go insanely fast without you realizing that you've built up your characters so powerful. Like in Cold Steel, it was obvious when it was broken. Less here.

Administering divisions & case assignments to permit litigants to choose an ideologically aligned judge is good.
Administering injunctions so as to avoid review by ideologically opposed judges is bad.
Got it.

ignore the context and the poster for a second: this is an unusually overt example of something I’ve picked up on for a while, which is ascribing power to people you dislike online that they don’t actually have (Drew Savicki is not a consultant, he’s a Election Twitter guy in college)

If it were just this, sure: Anyone could carelessly quote an inoffensive post from someone who turns out to be vile. But if you do it after a whole controversy about a Nazi tattoo, and then gush about a rabidly antisemitic podcast, either you’ve got a toe in the swamp or HORRENDOUS judgment.

My theory of Bruen is the majority was really only thinking about how/where/what guns can be carried, but as they were clearing the path for striking down assault weapons bans, magazine limits, etc, they whoopsied themselves into arming wifebeaters, felons, drug users, and are now playing cleanup.

Even if you share my civil libertarian skepticism of this particular law, Mike is correct. It's fundamentally unfair and anti-democratic for the Supreme Court to fault the Congress of 1968 for failing to foresee Second Amendment principles that SCOTUS would make up out of whole cloth decades later.

Tweet from Ryan Grim: "Understand what Neera is arguing for here: she thinks that no Democratic candidate should appear on any podcast where a host has flirted with conspiracy theories around Charlie Kirk and Israel. I don't think she understands how many podcasts that includes.
And if you make the opposite argument, and say no, actually, tens of millions of people love those shows, Democrats should be on them, she says I'm "defending anti-semitic conspiracy podcasters." The good news is that this stuff doesn't work anymore. Save your breath, nobody cares."
I really don't think "There are so many antisemitic podcasts out there that you just can't help but appear on them" is the defense they think it is.

I work in this business, too, and what makes me so livid is this kind of crap insulting the readers intelligence. The editors at the paper understand the marching orders. Pretending op-ed is just one persons opinion and not part of a larger agenda is silly and disingenuous.

Leetch's record of 23 goals for an NHL rookie D is easily in sight for Schaefer who has 22 games remaining to score 3 goals.
He has now scored 4 goals in his last 2 gp.
He might hit 30 the way this is going.

Now for something completely different.
Purim starts tomorrow night. And I had a thought this shabbos on one of the most interesting Purim rules mentioned in the Talmud: The obligation to get so drunk on wine that you cannot tell the difference between "blessed is Mordechai" & "cursed be Haman"
