I feel like, when you understand a scene... really dig into the script and learn the meaning of each line... understand the subtext, the context, the mood, the intent of each beat...

The staging & cinematography become obvious and your job is to channel that.

Mini-DisplayPort or full sized? I’ve had problems with KVMs and Mini-DisplayPort and when I got cables that used the full sized port instead, everything worked great.

If that doesn’t work, have you tried replacing the cables? Sometimes cheap, long cables from no-name brands have signal drop issues.

Absolutely. AI is scary as heck.

But at its core, entertainment is about surprise. About leading the audience to one path and then saying “nope we’re going this way!”

AI can only regurgitate what’s been done before. It can’t surprise. It can’t entertain.

If you talked to industry vets during the 2010’s, many felt like Adventure Time was “the downfall of quality cartoons” because (in the original short, at least) the drawings felt crude. Same with Icebox in the 2000’s.

I would disagree there too! Every day I talk to students or SfA mentees or up-and-coming artists that are excited about the future. Fewer are convinced that big localized studios are their path to breaking in, sure. But many of them are making their own path (Kickstarters, YouTube channels, etc).

I would argue that it's still an incredibly exciting time to be an animation fan.
