Hello people!
Wanted to ask if you have a book releasing from September 2025-August 2026 that you would like to be covered on Jamreads (SFF/Horror/Hist-Fic/Spec-Fic). (Trad/Indie equally)

Would you be so kind to put in the comments (so I can start working on my TBR with time?)

What Itโ€™s Like to Be a Student Who Hates ChatGPT โ€œEveryone is using itโ€โ€”almost everyone.

you've heard about the college kids who can't do anything without ChatGPT's helpโ€”but what about the students who oppose generative A.I. for myriad reasons and refuse to rely on it as a shortcut? well, I found and spoke with a few of them here: slate.com/life/2025/07...

A Democratic Mayor arrested.

A Democratic Congresswoman indicted.

A Democratic Senator tackled and detained.

A Democratic State Representative killed.

A Democratic State Representative in critical condition.

We can all see where this is going.

Iโ€™m just saying whatever actually happened itโ€™s republicansโ€™ fault. Their hands are covered in blood and this was the inevitable result of decades of dehumanizing people and when they and the mainstream media insist itโ€™s โ€œboth sidesโ€ they are full of shit.

None of us need help with ideas, we need our bills paid so we have time to write our ideas. We need security so we can play with ideas instead of spending mental energy on keeping the lights on and rationing groceries.

Like did these AI advocates never have an idea pre-2023? FFS

The PROP method for analyzing sources

P -- Primary or secondary? Was this person an eyewitness to the event they are describing, or did they just hear about from someone else?

R -- Reason to lie? Who is the author? Does this person have a reason to hide the truth or distort the facts?

O -- Other evidence? Are there any other sources that can confirm what this person is saying?

P -- Public or private? Was this source meant to be read by the public, or was it a private communication? People are more likely to be honest in their private diaries than they are in a public speech.

I used to use this strategy, the PROP method, to teach critical thinking skills in American history twenty years ago. It's as helpful and relevant as ever. How do you know something is true? How do you evaluate what you are hearing or reading? The kids always loved "reason to lie." Be skeptical!

The same applies to translation. If you don't enjoy the challenge of sitting with the words and crafting the perfect voice to match your source author's, why are you even here? The pay's not that great. And it can't be for the glory of itโ€”we can't even get our names on the covers of our books.

How much will we risk in the name of AI? AI safety breaches are a very present danger. Evidence shows that leading chatbots are perpetuating Kremlin talking points, while many leaders tout optimism rather than concern.

Commentary: Russian propaganda is infecting AI chatbots all over the world โ€” yes, including the ones many of us use. Yet too many leaders are burying their heads in the sand.

Gee, could it be that those professional reputations were built on having actual knowledge about a topic, but then tonguing the plagiarism machine shows blistering laziness as well as a total lack of critical thinking skills & the ability to understand consequences? Reputations arenโ€™t forever.

Prismacolor pencils are very nice but have a very different feel than most others that Iโ€™ve usedโ€”they are waxy, so it takes a bit of adjusting to. My favorite pencils are actually Crayola and Faber Castell; as long as you understand how color works, most brands are decent.

So I was on tour this month, and when I was doing my event for the Princeton University Library and the Princeton Public Library, I ended up at the graveyard, where I found this gravestone:
